Some bristle at coverage mandates in health care reform

Deb Price / The Detroit News

Dennis Lennox of Topinabee considers himself pretty healthy at 25 and feels it's worth the risk not to carry costly health insurance.

"I haven't seen the need for health insurance," says the drain commissioner in Cheboygan County. "That should be my choice."

He's twice brushed up against the gamble he's taking:

My comment:

Dennis Lennox has touched on the way America became the Greatest nation on Earth since time began(subjective?). Freedom of the individual to prosper and excel. If we go down the road of mandates in healthcare by the Federal Government, what other mandates will follow. That is why mandates are a State power, not Federal, to protect our freedom closer to home.

Interestingly, truth is, common law rules all. If a community finds a law not ethically or morally correct, it can Nullify it as Jurists. For individuals to be responsible for self they must be able to find income. Back when we founded this nation, one could go out and make a living on 5 acres. Today, the property tax, taxes hidden in goods we buy, the draft on anyone trying to make a living by those who have given up has made such impossible.

How do we fix it? Get rid of the tax on goods before they go in the shelf to sell. That will reduce the cost and will provide for manufacturing jobs in the USA and Michigan in particular, one of the highest hidden tax States in the Union. FairTax will do that, create jobs and make so people like Dennis can flourish and be self supporting. Until then, we will continue to be absorbed into this ever growing communist vacuum of putting a chain on the individual, relying on their Master the Government to feed and clothe them. Only a State can mandate healthcare Constitutionally.

If Michigan were to implement a mandated healthcare system, the sharing of the cost of insurance premiums would reduce the cost significantly and end the high risk pool that is needed. Incidentally, any Insurance contract that allows for removing a member for becoming high risk should be held as criminal in intent.

When the pilgrims who landed on Plymouth Rock ended their first winter, they found out that socialism does not work. It makes people lazy and in the end, not enough to sustain the whole. Thus, we have free enterprise and individual responsibility. Subsidiarity is this: Truth shall set you FREE!!! "Subsidiarity is that principle by which we respect the inherent dignity and freedom of the individual by never doing for others what they can do for themselves and thus enabling individuals to have the most possible discretion in the affairs of their lives.", Archbishop Naumann and Bishop Finn in joint pastoral letter http://paracom.paramountcommunication.com/ct/3640003:5298176903:m:1:123086951:F0B2EF81B962BED24AC3E4F049043A69

Give us the MIFairTax.org and the National FairTax.org, then we can become self sufficient with jobs, jobs, jobs.

FairTax and Constitutional Conduct Please,
George
