Dear R. George ,     Congressman Pete Hoekstra to Keynote Event! Our MI FairTax Candidates Summit will be held on Sunday, July 18 from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM.  We plan for it to be held in Lansing and the details will be forthcoming soon. Gubernatorial Candidate Pete Hoekstra Keynote Speaker   Pete Hoekstra, so far the only candidate for governor that is actively advocating for the MI FairTax, will kick off the event with a presentation at 11:30 AM sharp.  (Watch this short video as Pete Talks Taxes.)    Mike Huckabee and Mike Gravel!   Mike Huckabee and Mike Gravel, Republican and Democrat respectively and presidential candidates in the last election cycle, will both address the summit by video! The summit will provide some great training to candidates and their supporters on how to best advocate for the MI FairTax and the national FairTax, Q & A sessions and seminars, critical Do's and Don'ts, Debate Practice and Pointers, Working with the Media, and some good one liners and quotable sound bites.  As FairTax candidates, attendees will learn how to capitalize on the fact that FairTax candidates are the only ones with the key answer to Michigan's economic problems and out of control government. Learn How the FairTax Can Help Your Candidate's Campaign The summit will provide a great opportunity to learn from other candidates what has worked for them and to coordinate campaign efforts with candidates of neighboring districts for maximum benefit.  Candidates will learn how to be proactive on the FairTax proposals and how this will benefit their campaigns. This is a Must-Attend Event for all candidates that think that, at the least, the MI FairTax should be placed on the ballot for Michigan voters to have the opportunity to vote on the issue; and that the National FairTax should be brought to the floor of the U.S. House and Senate for a up or down vote by our elected representatives in Congress.   The FairTax - A Winning Campaign Strategy The objective of the Summit is to arm candidates with the knowledge and skills necessary to optimally help them win their campaigns for office; and to help all The FairTax - An Election-Winning Strategy   candidates educate the public on these vary popular issues.  What we have found is that the more people learn about the FairTax proposals the more they like them.  Many candidates running on the FairTax proposals across the state will serve to educate the voters statewide.   Primary campaigns are a great opportunity to prepare the public on the FairTax issues for the general election.  Primary races with more than one FairTax candidate and FairTax candidates in neighboring districts are ideal as the discussion by more than one candidate adds to the acceptance of the proposal by the public and will help to get FairTax candidates elected in the primary and general elections.     The Best Defense is a Good Offense   The more that voters are aware of the proposals the greater is the likelihood that attacks on FairTax candidates, in which the proposals are misrepresented as a basis for the attacks, will backfire on the attackers.  In fact, if the public is sufficiently aware of the proposals only a fool will try such an attack.  Being on the offensive will deny non FairTax candidates the opportunity to play on our field at all. Call Your Candidates NOW! Call Your Candidates NOW! Time is tight so I suggest that you first contact your candidates that are likely to be the most receptive to the FairTax proposals so as to give them the most time to benefit from your counsel and sufficient time to arrange their schedules so as to be able to attend our July 18 MI FairTax Summit.  Go get 'em as this is our best opportunity to educate the public via the campaigns of so many candidates across the state and to help us elect candidates that will assist us in the adoption of the MI FairTax and national FairTax.   Please keep us posted on all developments with each of your Candidates by e-mailing John Crawford with your updates.    You are playing a critical role in implementing the MI FairTax!  Thanks for your all-important work on this task! Friend of the Fairtax, Our first ever national TV show was a huge hit! Early numbers show that a lot of American tuned in and took notice. There were a flood of calls from keenly interested fellow citizens who had not before really understood the FairTax. Your phone calls, e-mails, a personal communications worked! Thank you. Thank you, too, for helping us broadcast this first ever national show. We'll be doing much more based on this great public response because—as you already know—when people know the details, they like the FairTax. Our biggest challenge is not convincing people this is a good idea but convincing people that the power of political insiders can be overcome. You and I both know that we have to roll over Congress, tax lobbyists and insiders who profit richly from the corruption of the income tax code. A lot of our fellow citizens just don't believe anymore that the Founding Father's promise of a nation, "of, by and for the people…" can be achieved anymore. It is the worst kind of cancer on our system of self-determination. That's why it falls to us not just to tell more and more Americans about the potential of the FairTax but to be real leaders in restoring a kind of "citizen self-confidence" that makes our Constitution actually work. Subject: Fake Tea Party Petitioners

Randy,

I had a paid petitioner ask me to sign a "Tea Party Formation" petition at the Cherryfest last night.  I asked him a couple questions and he admitted he was paid ($1 per signature) and that he did not believe in the values that the (true) Teas Party held. He was not a very good salesperson.   Fortunately, I was aware that this was a "fake" Tea Party petition designed by liberals to try and split the Republican vote.

My concern is that not allot of people are aware that this is a ploy and that they, as people that believe in the values the Tea Party holds, are being doped.  Maybe you can help spread the word about this.  I know there has been some education regarding this however I don't think enough.  3 other friends with me, all conservatives, had not heard about it and may have signed had I not made them aware.
