The Purpose of this E-mail is to Invite You to a Classic "Grass Roots" Backyard BBQ Campaign Fund Raiser for "Trucker Randy" Bishop, Candidate for State Senate - 37th District.

June 11th, 2010
6:30 pm

To Learn More About "Trucker Randy" Bishop and his Position on Issues, go to:

Other than putting a sign in my yard, a bumper sticker on my truck and having sometimes heated conversations with friends about political issues, I have never really gotten actively involved in politics before.   I've been pretty much a spectator to the political process most of my life.  Oh yes, I've had opinions, very vocal opinions.  Most of my friends can tell you exactly where I stand on most issues and candidates.   They all know "not to get me started" on politics.  However, all the talk, opinions, and rhetoric and about $1.50 will get me no more than a cup of coffee.  Especially in the last few years, as I have basically been "watching from the side lines", I have been astonished by how our State and our Country are radically transforming.  And I don't mean in a good way.  It seems like it is one dumb thing after another.

One of my "sideline" activities in the past has been to read the news and to stay "informed" of the issues on local, state, national and international levels.  A few months back, during one of my daily news/issues research I came across something about a new guy running for the Michigan Senate.  Someone called "Trucker Randy" Bishop.  I had never heard of this guy but based on the few things I read I wanted to learn more.  So I sent him an e-mail, requesting more information about his candidacy and positions.  To my surprise, he actually called me about 15 minutes later and we talked for about an hour.

It was that conversation and the things I've learned about Randy since then that has convinced me that I need to get off the sidelines and take action.  So that is why my Wife and I are hosting this fund raiser for Randy.  It's time for us to get involved.

Here is what I have learned about Randy since I have met him.
  1. He's proud of where he comes from.  He loves his family and this State and this Country.  It's very clear when you talk to him.
  2. He looks you in the eye when he talks to you and he loves meeting people.  He will actually listen to your opinion, not just appear to be.
  3. He's not a career politician.  He is not in it for the power or the money or prestige.  He sees a job that needs to be done and no one is doing it so he decided to "get off the sidelines" and do it himself.
  4. He believes in the Constitution.  He actually knows what's in it and knows what's not in it.   He's a Tea Party Constitutionalist Republican.  He might describe himself as something else, but that's how I see him.
  5. He is a hard worker.  He is running for State Senate while maintaining a full time job.
  6. He is not a "political insider".  He understands it's not about the Party or getting re-elected, it's about doing what is right.
There is more I could say about Randy but I would rather you learn the rest in person.  Get off the sidelines and come have a conversation with Randy for yourself.  He is even going to be doing a little bit of the cooking.  You will see what I mean when you meet him.

After you have met him and heard what he has to say about where we stand as a State and what he is going to be doing about it, and if you agree with us that he is the right man for the job, we will be asking you to help us with his campaign.  The help can be as simple as a yard sign or a bumper sticker or even better, in the form of a check to his campaign.  We also need volunteers to help get the word out and host future "grass roots" fund raisers like this one. There are many ways you can help!

So come meet Randy at our house and get something to eat.  We are looking forward to seeing you and introducing you to our future State Senator.

Sincerely,
Russell and Karen Schindler
