Michigan: Another BIG County Slams Republican Senators That Started A Witch Hunt

George, Big news today: Oakland County has now joined Macomb and Oceana counties in passing a resolution censuring Michigan state senators for exhorting left-wing lunatic Attorney General Dana Nessel to investigate "those who have been utilizing misleading and false information about Antrim County to raise money or publicity for their own ends." As we noted when we first began circulating language for these resolutions a month ago, the Senate Oversight Committee report never alleged any facts to show anyone was making any claims about Antrim Country, true or false, to "raise money or publicity for their own ends." But it was an obvious reference to attorney Matthew DePerno, who represented an Antrim County resident in a lawsuit against the county. As we noted, Senator Ed McBroom was hardly a neutral party in the matter. He was once sued by Matt DePerno himself. Since the report was released, Dana Nessel has announced she will oblige the Senate Oversight Committee and commence a witch hunt. This is fundamentally not about DePerno or any of his claims. This is about the right to free speech, the right to an attorney, the right to organize (DePerno is raising money for future election-related litigation), and the Senate committee's abuse of power by targeting an individual citizen, a personal enemy of the chairman, on the basis of no allegations at all. You can read the Oakland County resolution here. In addition to censure, it called for a retraction and apology from the lawmakers. From our perspective, these censures send an important message to our lawmakers: We will not be silent when you spit in our faces, all while lecturing us about the need for "unity." We want a unified Republican Party, alright: unified in defense of liberty. So, let's work to get counties on board.
