Leftists conned us~USA No. 1 of 191 countries for "responsiveness to needs & choices of individual patient."

Where U.S. Health Care Ranks Number One

Isn't 'responsiveness' what medicine is all about?

Last August the cover of Time pictured President Obama in white coat and stethoscope. The story opened: "The U.S. spends more to get less [health care] than just about every other industrialized country." This trope has dominated media coverage of health-care reform. Yet a majority of Americans opposes Congress's health-care bills. Why?

The comparative ranking system that most critics cite comes from the U.N.'s World Health Organization (WHO). The ranking most often quoted is Overall Performance, where the U.S. is rated No. 37. The Overall Performance Index, however, is adjusted to reflect how well WHO officials believe that a country could have done in relation to its resources.

The scale is heavily subjective: The WHO believes that we could have done better because we do not have universal coverage. What apparently does not matter is that our population has universal access because most physicians treat indigent patients without charge and accept Medicare and Medicaid payments, which do not even cover overhead expenses. The WHO does rank the U.S. No. 1 of 191 countries for "responsiveness to the needs and choices of the individual patient." Isn't responsiveness what health care is all about?

Data assembled by Dr. Ronald Wenger and published recently in the Bulletin of the American College of Surgeons indicates that cardiac deaths in the U.S. have fallen by two-thirds over the past 50 years. Polio has been virtually eradicated. Childhood leukemia has a high cure rate. Eight of the top 10 medical advances in the past 20 years were developed or had roots in the U.S... full article here

My comment:

So USA is ranked equal to Cuba?  What's their Emergency Room policy for emergencies?

America has the best Health Care in the World, bar none and we want to change that?  We can make it better, but to change to a system known for failure is insane.

There are fixes needed, most of them to be done at the State level.  If you want to provide health care for everyone, State mandated HSA/IRA will produce low cost catastrophic insurance costs, replace SSI and Medicare thereby curing a fiscal nightmare coming Federally if they don't become Constitutional in conduct 100%.

Republican governor candidates offer own economic solutions |Michigan Job solution in comment

Michael Bouchard wants to spur Michigan's economy by giving the construction industry a break.

Call it his answer to "cash for caulkers," the federal stimulus money set aside to promote weatherization projects. Bouchard wants a 12-month delay in assessing property taxes against remodeling jobs

or additions.

"What you have right now is two years or more of property values going down," said Bouchard, the Oakland County sheriff who is among a number of Republicans seeking the GOP nomination for governor.

"People who might have the ability of investing in their businesses and homes are concerned about values continuing to slide," he said. "They see their values going down and their taxes going up. Most people are sitting on their hands and wallets very determinedly."

Bouchard said building permits are down 95 percent since 1995 and the local construction industry has a 33 or 34 percent unemployment rate. full Story here

My comment:

Actually, for those who could afford it, fixing the  shingled roof of a home is wise.  But where this Bouchard plan has a missing step is in the affording of the home.  Jobs created will be a help, but not with those who can afford fixing is shrinking rapidly.  Flint at 32% unemployment, Detroit guessed at 50%, who knows in rural, all the people off the rolls.

If we could get business back into this State, into this Nation, we would all go back to work making a competitively hiring world.  Imagine what that would be like.  Think it a dream?

When free trade was made policy in the 1980's, our tax structure was designed to take advantage of the book keeping in business.  We should have changed our tax structure to take the tax, which is near all hidden in the price of the product and move it to an equal taxation on foreign goods as well as our own.  Opps.  We lost jobs for how many years and both parties danced the dance of it is ok.  We are now to the pint of collapse, with 50% of the $125.00 per year Countries now near equal.  Do you feel like you did this willingly?  Me neither.  This is the reason for the Teaparties, for the rise of Patriots.

Now Snyder wants to keep the status quo and dance between taxes, raising them each time.  Enough of that.  Sheriff Bouchard wants to start by lowing taxes to those who can afford their homes.  Thats good, but just a Band-Aid.  AG Cox has a plan to reduce taxes and cut services, also an step in the right direction for the budget.  Mr. George I don't know.  Pete Hoekstra is a fan of the National plan to fix the free trade debacle.  He has not come out with a detailed plan, other then to say that if we are going to get business back to Michigan we have to make MI business friendly by getting rid of taxes that chase jobs away. We have to make our business climate as being competitive with the world,(remember Free trade).

The Democrats want to do the swap tax trick as Snyder does too.  They want to move some of the business tax and a 22% surcharge to sales tax and add service to being taxed as a sale.  In doing so they are willing to lower the sales tax to do so, not much.  It has a huge fault.  the Poor are the hardest hit as they will have to pay tax on laundry matts, car care, everything without any offset.

What everyone in the legislature is saying that the plan that is being pushed which former Representative Fulton Sheen introduced will fix our State.  yet the politics of lobbyists and fear keep them all silent.  What is the plan, the Michigan FairTax plan.

That tax on service has a prebate under FairTax to return any spending tax up to maximum Poverty wage to everyone, working or not.  FairTax also removes the State income Tax and it makes our Michigan jobs climate the best in America!  Sound good?  Well this is just the first Blessing, jobs.  The effect of Michigan FairTax will be sweeping across the nation.  We have been stalling so long on the MIFairTax, that Missouri has copied it and it has been approved by the State House and is going to get approved by the State Senate.

The sweeping of the Nation will result in the National FairTax Plan, which is Manna number one of the Teaparty and Patriot Groups and Caucus across the USA.  Michigan will lead the Nation back to prosperity by causing the USA to change the tax structure and correct the flawed free trade policy by ending all tax in your paycheck, gross pay without changing one thing. (that is another subject Patriots are working on Constitutional Conduct)
Our competitive edge with the foreign manufacturing will shift dramatically.  We will see a flood of jobs coming back to America, as the companies that left over the past 30 years will come back, no longer evading the Federal Tax system.  There is many pluses to the FairTax plan which you can find at these to sites:  http://mifairtax.org  http://fairtax.org

We don't have time for the Governor race to adjust our tax structure.  Call your Legislators and tell them to call up out of committee the MiFairTax Plan and put it on the ballot for August to give us time to make the conversion on January 1st, 2011.  We the People of Michigan will determine our fate, the fate of keeping our Families here in Michigan, a State We Love.

Contact your representatives and senators,  call this to their attention and ask them to join Congressman Deal in this Challenge to Obama's eligibility, reminding them that to sit by silently is to perjure their oath of office to Uphold and Defend the Constitution.

Here's some real special news!

 Congressman Nathan Deal Challenges  Obama's Eligibility

FIRST TIME IN U.S. HISTORY THAT A SITTING PRESIDENT'S ELIGIBILITY QUESTIONED BY MEMBER OF CONGRESS

by P. Patriot

Nathan Deal, U.S. Representative for Georgia, is running for Georgia Governor in 2010.

(Jan. 5, 2010) — The Post & Email can publicly confirm that on the first of December, last, U.S. Congressman Nathan Deal (GA-R) challenged the eligibility of Barack Hussein Obama to hold the office of the U.S. presidency.

Todd Smith, Chief of Staff for Representative Nathan Deal of the United States House of Representatives serving Georgia's 9th district, has confirmed today that Deal has sent a letter to Barack Hussein Obama requesting him to prove his eligibility for the office of President of the United States of America. The letter was sent electronically the first of December 2009 in pdf format, and Mr. Smith said that Representative Deal has confirmation from Obama's staff that it has been received. The letter did not have additional signatories. It originated solely from Representative Deal.

Now, what does this mean? This is probably the first time in 233 years of American history that a sitting member of the House of Representatives has officially challenged the legitimacy of a sitting president….one full year into his term.

This forever changes the public discourse.

Even if the putative president ignores the challenge, he cannot hide from it, because by doing so he admits his guilt through silence. The question has to be asked near and far, why would a president who has promised greater transparency than any previous administration pay upwards of $2,000,000 of taxpayer money to hide documents that could resolve the matter once and for all time for the cost of $20.00. He has publicly admitted on more than one occasion that his father was NOT an American citizen. This alone disqualifies him from eligibility based on Article 2, Section 1, Paragraph 5 of the Constitution, and consequently makes him a usurper.

Representative Deal, understanding full well the magnitude and gravity of the situation and recognizing that it places our country in a national security crisis, has rightfully confronted the issue head-on. The ramifications are so serious that all laws signed by a putative president are null and void, and soldiers sent into war under his command can be tried as war criminals.

Representative Deal is not a "Birther"; rather, he is a "Truther"; one of the millions of others who have been seeking irrefutable proof for over a year and a half!

Not a single lawsuit to date has been decided on the merits of the case, with numerous cases yet to be resolved or dismissed.

Madison on the "General Welfare" clause.

"If Congress can employ money indefinitely to the general welfare,

and are the sole and supreme judges of the general welfare,

they may take the care of religion into their own hands;

they may appoint teachers in every State, county and parish and pay them out of their public treasury;

they may take into their own hands the education of children, establishing in like manner schools throughout the Union;

they may assume the provision of the poor;

they may undertake the regulation of all roads other than post-roads;

in short, every thing, from the highest object of state legislation down to the most minute object of police, would be thrown under the power of Congress....

Were the power of Congress to be established in the latitude contended for,

it would subvert the very foundations, and transmute the very nature of the limited Government established by the people of America."

RedState~Senator DeMint's Bold Objection Forces Health Care Resolution a do over

DeMint's Bold Objection Forces Pelosi, Reid and Obama to Scurry Behind Closed Doors on Health Care Reform (Again)

Aside from a handful of mentions, not much has been made thus far of Republican Senator Jim DeMint's courageous objection to the appointment of conferees on the health care bill.

Most people know that the House passed one version of a health care bill at 11 pm on a Saturday, while the Senate passed a very different version at 7am on Christmas Eve. Before any bill can go to the President for signature, those differences are normally resolved in what is known as a conference report, negotiated by representatives, called "conferees," appointed by the House and the Senate.

But Senator DeMint led a behind-the-scenes effort by Senate Republicans to object to the appointment of conferees. The objection means the House will take up the Senate bill, and if any changes are made, the bill has to work its way back through the entire legislative process in the Senate again. And changing the bill means another tough vote for nervous House Democrats, and even more disconcerting for Senator Reid, the bill will have to go through the whole Senate procedure again, working to collect another 60 votes. Further, the process will potentially expose the bill to new amendments from those in Congress who saw the deal Senator Nelson negotiated in exchange for his support.

This is significant! Let's not forget how expensive it was for Reid to get 60 votes the first time. Pelosi and Reid must now huddle behind closed doors, unofficially, and try to hammer out yet another secret bill that is capable of winning the votes of 60 Senators.

There's been a lot of talk about more cuts to state spending. That will be a necessity as Michigan faces another tough budget year, one when federal stimulus funds will be thinner and the shortfall just as deep. The state will be forced to conserve and restructure once again to live within its means. But tackling spending alone won't be... Full story »

Quote, "A better solution is wholesale reform."  This the bottom line to Michigan's fiscal freefall.  Adding more taxation onto the people of Michigan in the form of increasing sales tax by taxing services without any prebate, will attack the poor, who can least afford to fund the overburdened bureaucracy in Lansing.  So what can we do to fix the problem?

The only cure for Michigan is to end the loss of employment in the State, to design a tax structure that will enhance business, keep what we have and attracting new business without the favoritism now being done.  The point of more revenue dollars being waived to some business and not others is cronyism run amuck.  But if you stop this business offer of tax deferments, the business will leave the State.

With unemployment in Flint at 32%, Detroit approximately 50%, one can imagine what it is in rural Michigan.  Time to stop the blindeye dodging of the  truth and fix the State before we are in such a mess that we cannot recover for a century.

Now what is astounding is all the people who say that the Michigan FairTax plan will work but it is not politically acceptable?  What is that?  Why is that this plan that is all ready to go, including studies to show it is the way, is still not recognized.  Is it the threat to politicians and their lobbyists.  If so, is that more important then the citizens of Michigan?

This article leans toward the MiFairTax and gives lip service to what is needed, but falls into the trap of not doing anything to fix the problem.  Please, Please, stop this political nonsense and do what is right.  We don't have time to play who can be in charge.  Be in charge and get it done.  FairTax Please!!! http://mifairtax.org

Michigan Court of Appeals Dismisses Without Explanation Mackinac Center Lawsuit in Home-Based Day Care Union Case

Center's attorney reviewing legal options, reiterates that governor and Legislature could end this "bizarre and unconstitutional arrangement"

MIDLAND — Mackinac Center Legal Foundation Director Patrick J. Wright announced today that the Michigan Court of Appeals has dismissed the lawsuit filed by the foundation against the Michigan Department of Human Services on behalf of home-based day care owners Sherry Loar of Petoskey, Michelle Berry of Flint and Paulette Silverson of Brighton. Wright is now reviewing other possible legal options.

The Center's legal foundation seeks to end the DHS' illegal withholding of so-called "union dues" from child care subsidy checks sent to home-based day care providers on behalf of low-income parents who qualify for government assistance. The DHS maintains that Loar, Berry and Silverson, who own home-based day care centers open to the public, are government employees and members of a statewide union.

"The court's decision is unfortunate," said Wright, "since without a vote of the Legislature, the DHS cannot treat our clients as government employees. But what complicates matters is that the court announced its decision in a single sentence and didn't explain its rationale.

"This has some troubling consequences," Wright added. "It means the people of Michigan are unsure about the state of the law and their rights. Can the governor, as she has here, simply write an agreement with a community college and take on legislative powers, like turning private business owners into public employees? If so, what other legislative powers can the governor usurp? Can she and a local government raise state taxes? Does the governor just need to find one willing dance partner to rewrite Michigan law?

"This issue should matter to the Michigan Legislature. Precedents like this tend to be stretched, and they are usually stretched at the expense of the Legislature's powers and the rights of the people. And this case should also matter to Gov. Granholm. She retains the power and the responsibility to end the DHS' role in this bizarre and unconstitutional arrangement. She could right this wrong with a single phone call."

Rally against "Government Motors" in Detroit

Fellow Patriots,

It would take most of us a while to think about one thing the government does well- with good reason. They don't do many things well. But instead of fixing what they are already responsible for, the political elite decided to get into the car making business. The result? General Motors now has to spend $12,200 in tax dollars just to make a car!

General Motors has so far taken $52.9 BILLION taxpayer dollars since December of 2008. The intended purpose of this funding was "to prevent a significant disruption of the American automotive industry," according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO).

This unprecedented distribution of wealth has resulted in government owning 61% of GM equity.

The good folks of Michigan certainly need help. Jobs are in shortage, and paying the bills is becoming increasingly more difficult.

What Michigan needs is a responsible auto industry that can become profitable, self sustainable and efficient in ways that provide more private jobs and economic success.

To make matters worse, the Auto Show in Detroit this weekend will cost an estimated $10 MILLION to put on!!!

Please join us (if you live in the area) in Detroit on Monday, January 11th, to make a peaceful yet clear statement against Government takeover of America.

An official Facebook Event/Group has been set up here.

If you cannot make it, please help is spread the word through Twitter by using the "hashtag" #govmotors to tell your followers about the event.
