Weekly Feature
The good news is that the FairTax has been a feature story nationwide
this month. More than any time in our history, TV hosts, commentators,
bloggers, talk shows and the press are talking about the FairTax
legislation and inviting us to weigh in. More Americans than ever are
contacting their local volunteer leaders, our website traffic has
increased between 20% - 100% in all the cities and states where
FairTax is an issue in congressional races and over 62,000 people
belong to our Facebook page. But as you guessed, this sudden attention
to the legislation that would turn the economy around and keep more
money in your pocket - is fueled by lies.

FactCheck.org calls the attack ads "misrepresenting by
omission," PolitiFact.com has given them only a
"half-true" rating and in newspapers across the nation,
articles are pointing out the deceptive nature of the attack ads.
They've covered the state in Arkansas, Colorado and Kentucky and
have run in fifteen other Congressional races. And more are coming.

What we're doing: This week we placed a newspaper ad across the
nation that has reached millions of Americans and are continuing to
run internet ads. Our spokesmen have been in daily contact with
broadcast media, print media and on talk radio with the truth about
the transformative power of the FairTax. Letters have been sent to the
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the National
Republican Congressional Committee urging that the attack ads come
down immediately and both parties embrace the FairTax.

In short, we're doing everything we can to take advantage of
this media opportunity and need your help.
What we need you to do: Please forward these emails to friends and
especially people in the states above. Join us on Facebook, write a
letter to your local paper about the truth, contact your Congressman
and get in touch with your local volunteer leaders. Search for FairTax
news stories and comment on any distortions. Find the YouTube channels
and Facebook pages of the candidates running the ads to comment
wherever you think best. You can even contact their supporters if you
want them to know their candidate is attacking the ability to keep
their paychecks and lives free from the IRS. You can also share this
response video. If you see an attack ad, send an email with details to
info@fairtax.org with "Intel" in the subject line with the
station information.

Special Feature: Grassroots Spotlight
Mississippi State Director Alan Ramsay reports about his experience at
a local grassroots event:
"There were about 100 in attendance and the featured speaker was
Senator Roger Wicker, R-MS. A very knowledgeable FairTax supporter
gave a quick review of the benefits of FairTax and then asked the
Senator where he stood on the issue. Senator Wicker paused and then
turned to the audience and asked how many of them supported the Fair
Tax proposal. To his obvious surprise, over 75% of them raised their
hands. The Senator then explained calmly that he had concerns over a
Fair Tax system... He indicated he would continue to look at the Fair
Tax proposal to determine its merits."
Thanks to Alan's work, and that of thousands of unnamed
volunteers, the FairTax is set to play a pivotal role in our
nation's economic recovery. Thank you!

FairTax in the News
Fair Tax = Unfair Attacks - Wall Street Journal Political Diary
...In at least 16 House districts and three Senate races, Democrats
have run ads blasting Republicans for offering kind words about the
"Fair Tax" -- a proposal to replace the federal income tax with a 23%
sales tax.
Democrats have jumped at the opportunity to paint Republicans as
tax-happy. Jack Conway, the Democratic candidate for Senate in
Kentucky, accused Republican Rand Paul in last night's debate of
wanting to raise the price of groceries and drugs by 23%... Similar
ads are pummeling Ken Buck, the GOP candidate for Senate in Colorado.
His lead over Democratic Senator Michael Bennet has shrunk to two
points.
FactCheck.org, a watchdog group for political advertising, says the
ads are often misleading because they neglect to point out that the
federal income tax would be abolished as part of the Fair Tax
proposal. "Democrats are accusing Republicans of supporting a 23%
sales tax on everything, which would be on top of all existing
taxes... It's misrepresenting by omission of the FairTax idea,"
FactCheck.org director Brooks Jackson told The Hill newspaper.
Dem ads against GOP not accurate on crux of FairTax proposal -
TheHill.com
Democratic lawmakers struggling to find support from a skeptical
electorate are using a Republican tactic to win votes by claiming
their opponents will raise taxes if elected into office...
WPGH Fox 53 in Pennsylvania suspended a 30-second advertisement by the
DCCC about the Fair Tax that was running in the state's 12th
congressional district. The ad did not mention that the Fair Tax would
replace the income tax. Democrats argued at the time that the ad was
pulled because of the conservative politics of the company that owns
WPGH...
The FairTax replaces income and payroll taxes with a national sales
tax that would likely be collected at the state level. It also
provides a rebate for incomes that are below the poverty line.
Jack Conway's next attack on Rand Paul: Sales tax - Washington
Post
...The spot, one of several that the Conway camp is considering airing
for the final stretch, shows video of Paul saying: "I would always
favor a sales tax over an income tax."
The question about the sales tax, or so-called "Fair Tax," has
surfaced as a major issue in the race in recent days. In the wake of
the video revelations, a former Paul campaign aide put out a statement
saying Paul would vote for the Fair Tax as Senator. But the campaign
has since distanced him from the claim, insisting that Paul is merely
in favor of looking at all options in the quest for tax reform.
