| Congressman Pete Hoekstra to Keynote Event! Dear R. George, The Michigan FairTax Association is hosting a MI FairTax Candidates Summit, co-sponsored by Americans for Prosperity - MI, that will be held on Sunday, July 18 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. It will be held in Lansing at the Lansing Community College and the details will be forthcoming soon. Congressman Pete Hoekstra  | Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee  | Former Senator Mike Gravel, D-AK  | Pete Hoekstra, so far the only candidate for governor that is actively advocating for the MI FairTax, will kick off the event with a presentation at 11:30 AM. Mike Huckabee, R-AR and Mike Gravel, D-AK to Address Attendees! We are excited to have TWO 2008 Presidential Candidates address the MI FairTax Summit conferees! Mike Huckabee and Mike Gravel, Republican and Democrat respectively, will both address the summit by video.
The summit will provide great training to candidates and their supporters on how to best advocate for the MI FairTax and the national FairTax, Q & A sessions and seminars, critical do's and don'ts, debate practice and pointers, working with the media, and some good one-liners and quotable sound bites. Attendees will learn how to capitalize on the fact that FairTax candidates are the only ones with the key answer to Michigan's economic problems and out of control government.

The summit will provide a great opportunity to learn from other candidates what has worked for them and to coordinate campaign efforts with candidates of neighboring districts for maximum benefit. Candidates will learn how to be proactive on the FairTax proposals and how this will benefit their campaigns.
The MI FairTax - A Winning Campaign Strategy  | This is a must-attend event for all candidates and campaign staff who believe, at the least, that the MI FairTax Constitutional amendment should be placed on the ballot for Michigan voters to have the opportunity to vote on the issue; and that the National FairTax should be brought to the floor of the U.S. House and Senate for an up or down vote by our elected representatives in Congress. All candidates - and their supporters - that want to learn more about the proposals, their impact on the economy and citizen control of government are encouraged to attend. If you are unsure whether you should be a FairTax advocate or not, then this is also must-attend event for you, too!
The objective of the Summit is to arm candidates with the knowledge and skills necessary to optimally help win their campaigns for office; and to help all candidates educate the public on these very popular issues. What we have found is that the more people learn about the FairTax proposals the more they like them. Many candidates running on the FairTax proposals across the state will serve to educate voters statewide, thereby increasing the likelihood of victory for FairTax candidates.
Primary campaigns are a great opportunity to prepare the public on the FairTax issues for the general election. Primary races with more than one FairTax candidate and FairTax candidates in neighboring districts are ideal as the discussion by more than one candidate adds to the acceptance of the proposal by the public and will help to get FairTax candidates elected in the primary and general elections.
The Best Defense is a Good Offense The more that voters are aware of the proposals the greater is the likelihood that attacks on FairTax candidates, in which the proposals are misrepresented as a basis for the attacks, will backfire on the attackers. In fact, when the public is sufficiently aware of the proposals only a fool will try such an attack. Being on the offensive will deny non FairTax candidates the opportunity to play on our field at all.
