Subject: [tri-city912] The last stand . . .

ATTENTION!

This is the last week to fight against the nationalization of Health Care.  I have gotten word from a source that the Representatives in Congress are concerned that the conservatives, "tea party" movement has been very quiet.  They are wondering what happened to us.  In the meantime, supporters have pummeled them with their views.  Are we silent once again?

(While everyone is watching the elections, look at what the other hand is doing!)   I ask once again, for calls to your congress (wo)men every day this week!  They vote on Friday.  Make them hear us; they need to hear YOUR voice, YOUR opinion!  Please, please take the time to call.

Below, I have listed some targets that are middle of the road that might be swayed.  Also be sure and call your State reps, and if you care to chew on Pelosi and Reid's ear, please do!   Print this up and call whenever you can!  And during your call, will you tell them to support HR 721 that states "that any major health care reform bill should be available for review for at least 30 days."?  Thank you, in advance, for all of the calls!

Neither for or against stances:

       Ben Nelson, Nebraska  (202)224-5274

       Mary Landrieu, LA  (202)224-5824

Evan Bayh, IN (up for re-election in 2010)  (202)224-5623

Blanche Lincoln, AK  (up for re-election in 2010)   (202)224-4843

Others for possible influence;

Senator Kent Conrad, N.D. (Budget Committee Chairman)  (202)224-2043

   Senator Bill Nelson, FL (202)224-5274

   Senator Tom Carper, DL (202)224-2441

Olympia Snowe, ME (she was for this all along, then opposed it!) (202)224- 5344

Senator Joe Lieberman, (encourage him to continue to oppose this.) (Sen. Joe Lieberman said Sunday it's worth defeating a healthcare overhaul in order to prevent the creation of a government-run health insurance program.) (202)224-4041

**In the House of Representatives, the snags there are regarding ABORTION, and COVERING (illegal?) IMMIGRANTS.  They are also divided on how to go about setting fees for doctors, hospitals, HC providers and participants in the public plan.

**In the Senate, the snags are the public option, co-ops.  A number of moderates are still extremely concerned about a government-run, taxpayer-funded, national public plan.

Republican incumbents up for re-election in 2010 that we may be able to influence for this reason alone:
Richard Shelby of Alabama
Lisa Murkowski of Alaska
John McCain of Arizona
Johnny Isakson of Georgia
Mike Crapo of Idaho
Chuck Grassley of Iowa
Jim Bunning of Kentucky
David Vitter of Louisiana
Judd Gregg of New Hampshire
Richard Burr of North Carolina
Tom Coburn of Oklahoma
Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania
Jim DeMint of South Carolina
John Thune of South Dakota
Bob Bennett of Utah
