FairTax Friday | The jobs bill IS the FairTax bill! /*\ Will DC move to support We the People?

"Our tax system still siphons out of the private economy too large a share of personal and business purchasing power and reduces the incentive for risk, investment and effort – thereby aborting our recoveries and stifling our national growth rate." -  John F. Kennedy

Feature Article: The jobs bill IS the FairTax

"Where are the jobs?"  It's a pointed question that stumps our politicians even as it becomes more desperate.

Both major parties have talked about job plans or pivots toward economic growth for years - yet for many, the American dream only seems further away.

The headlines today are even worse:

Job Growth at Halt in US; Worst Showing in 11 Months - "The nation's employers failed to add new jobs in August, a strong signal that the economy has stalled and that policy makers can no longer afford inaction."

Against this backdrop, the FairTax bill, HR 25, offers hope. Millions of dollars in research demonstrate there is a better way to fund our government that will employ willing Americans once again.

The FairTax legislation:

- Creates jobs and restores the Made in America label by making U.S. products more competitive

- Raises real wages over 10% in the first year

- Saves Americans $430 billion wasted yearly complying with 70,000+ pages of tax regulations

- Ends the sale of tax favors to the rich, politically connected and special interest lobbying groups

- Grows the economy and GDP by billions of dollars

- Adds trillions of US and foreign dollars to our economy by making America a global tax haven

- Lowers product costs by removing business taxes, avoidance and compliance expenses hidden today

A research paper adds important details:

"The FairTax dramatically increases investment levels compared to levels that would have been achieved under the current income tax system. Increased savings will stimulate investment and productivity and the economy will grow more rapidly, creating demand for workers and improving job opportunities.

Because taxes on capital are removed, foreign capital will flow into the United States, creating businesses and jobs.  U.S. products competing abroad are free of the hidden costs of taxation while the FairTax is collected on foreign products sold in the United States.  Virtually all economic models project a much healthier economy under a broad-based consumption tax such as the FairTax."

The FairTax is the only jobs bill that will immediately put Americans on Main Street and Wall Street back to work and restore our economy.

What's in the way? The self-interests of politicians who are unwilling to let go of a dysfunctional but personally lucrative tax code and take real reform seriously.

So educate your friends, join a local group and demand your Representative and Senators to co-sponsor the FairTax legislation.

Thank you!

Grassroots Spotlight: DFW volunteers

Determined efforts from volunteers and leaders from the Dallas-Fort Worth area resulted in a FairTax meeting with a Congressman on the Committee on Ways and Means!

Due to busy schedules when they are in their home districts, sometimes it can be difficult to get personal time with your Representative in Congress.  But Susie Robinson, DFW Fair Tax Volunteer and former Fair Tax District Director for TX-24, stuck with the mission until it was accomplished! After many phone calls and working with Congressman Kenny Marchant's (TX-24) staff, Susie was able to secure a 20 minute window on August 15 to discuss the FairTax.

Because of the Congressman's sincere interest in getting his questions about the Fair Tax addressed, the 20 minute meeting with FairTax leaders turned into a productive 45 minutes! While Congressman Marchant has yet to commit to co-sponsor HR 25, the Dallas-Fort Worth Fair Tax Team is confident that the meeting contributed greatly in moving him in the right direction.

FairTax In the News

Congressman: Focus on economyForsyth News

…During Wednesday's gathering, Resident Mark Andrews suggested kicking lobbyists out of Washington, D.C., and asked Graves about the Fair Tax and why existing immigration laws are not enforced. Graves said he's a co-sponsor of the Fair Tax and that it will take time to explain the proposal to other constituencies…

"When you get that Fair Tax code -- you get rid of 60,000 pages of income tax code and all the compliance costs that go with it and all the embedded taxes that go with it and the loopholes -- you're going to get the economy moving again," Graves said…

Support FairTax planThe Morning Call

As the owner of a small business, I am confronted every day with the harsh realities of dealing with our income tax system. I have to keep track of income, inventories, expenses, payroll taxes, including those for Social Security, Medicare and unemployment, and the endless filing of various returns.

I thought all was lost, until I heard about the FairTax supported by Americans for Fair Taxation. It will repeal the federal income tax, both personal and corporate. Imagine the impact on business in this country if there were zero corporate taxes. Businesses from around the world would flock to the U.S. to set up shop. Just look at how many corporations incorporate in Delaware for just that reason. Want to reduce the unemployment rate? I can't think of a better way to do it than to remove all the tax controls on business and let them use those resources to grow their businesses…
