Dear Fellow Republican Activist:
Children clearly are the greatest asset to Michigan's future. That's why I have taken the lead on the Republican side of the aisle in the Michigan House of Representatives to protect innocent human life. The Personhood Amendment (House Joint Resolution II 2009) defines life in Michigan as beginning at fertilization. All protections as a citizen via the state would be afforded to a child in her/his mother's womb.
The public has shown support for pro-life principles in opinion polls for some time. Clearly, defending life at conception is a winning issue for our party, state, and nation --- but mostly importantly it is the right thing to do. I am proud to be a leader on this critical issue even though the abortion rights lobby is strong in Lansing.
Please contact your State Representative to support House Joint Resolution II when it comes to the floor for a vote. Just as important, please contact your State Senator to sponsor similar legislation. Currently, we do not have a sponsor in the Senate to promote this effort.
If approved by the legislature, this issue would be placed before voters as an amendment to our Michigan Constitution. It is the first time ever in our great state's history that legislation of this kind has been introduced --- life would be affirmed and a child's right to life at conception would be enshrined in our Constitution for all time.
Now is the time to stand for life. Now is the time to stand for our future.
