Granholm proposes graduated income tax to replace MBTsurcharge.

theblogprof: Is there *ANY* tax our Governor doesn't like?

Granholm said she has talked with legislators and business people about a constitutional amendment to change Michigan's flat income tax -- now at 4.35% -- to a graduated tax in which more affluent taxpayers would pay a larger percentage than lower income ... The article follows along the lines of another that I pointed out just yesterday (The Michigan Exodus) that also proposed lowering the tax burden. In this case, the Governor wouldn't lower the tax burden at all. ...

Michigan Fair Tax PLEASE!!! www.mifairtax.org

It is good to see that Gov. Granholm is seeing the light of how the business tax chases away jobs, but she needs to also understand that income taxes also make our Michigan manufactured product carry it as an added cost , an excise income tax on our own product making companies still not want to bring jobs to Michigan. We cannot afford to wait any longer.

Democrat Legislature Joel Sheltrown agrees with this and wants us to implement the Fair Tax. This is a BI-partisan understanding whose day has arrived, both in Michigan and Nationally.
