Dear R. GEORGE, Defending the principle of "one person, one vote" will be my top priority if privileged to serve as Michigan's next Secretary of State.  In fact, I'm not waiting until 2010 or beyond to protect the integrity of our elections, which are under increasing attack from groups like ACORN who wish to compromise them.   In recent weeks and months, I've introduced bills that will strengthen Michigan's election laws and strongly punish those who violate them.  I've advanced legislation to help put an end to ACORN's submission of fraudulent voter registration applications, and to put real teeth in laws forbidding such groups from paying people to vote for certain candidates or political parties.    This week, I announced the submission of Senate Bill 984, which will address unethical election practices brought to light in the recent Detroit City Council elections.  The Detroit News detailed a long standing but rarely discussed practice in which local candidates must pay community organizations, unions and other groups as much as $5,000 in exchange for endorsements.   This "pay to play" system means critical campaign endorsements are awarded to candidates not on the basis of their qualifications for the job, but on the size of their pocketbooks.  This is unethical and it should be illegal.  Instead, it has become the norm in Detroit politics over the years, even though the Detroit News says such practices are "virtually unheard of in U.S. politics."   Michigan voters must be able to trust that endorsements from respected organizations are awarded based on merit, just like they must be able to trust that groups like ACORN are not unfairly impacting our elections.  Again, I'm not waiting until 2010 or beyond to address such critical issues - I'm tackling them now, and my efforts will continue along the path to becoming your next Secretary of State.   If you agree that defending the principle of "one person, one vote" and protecting the integrity of our elections should be our next Secretary of State's top priority, I welcome your support of my campaign.   Sincerely,     CAMERON S. The top legislative priority for organized labor and their allies in Congress is the so-called Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), also known as "Card Check." EFCA is an enormous power grab by big labor bosses that would strip workers of their right to decide by private ballot whether to join a union, and their right to freely negotiate their contract. Instead, workers would be asked to publicly sign cards in front of union organizers, potentially subjecting them to harassment or intimidation. EFCA is a threat to workers' rights.

Our effort is not anti-union; our effort is anti-EFCA.

Our internal polling shows that the American people are firmly on the side of supporting a worker's right to a secret ballot election. In fact, the tri-partisan agreement to defend this right is overwhelming, as 77% of Republicans, 82% of Democrats, and 79% of independents believe in protecting private ballots. Support for private ballots is so broad it also spanned union households and every subgroup examined, including majorities of every age, race, geographic group and both genders.

The new leadership of the RNC is looking very promising and needs our uniting behind them starting now!

Unions got their start in Flint Michigan, to my memory and it has been a tool of the worker to obtain a fair days wage for a fair days work.   I as an conservative American do not see unions as bad, but sometimes lacking ethics, like protecting those who will not work.  But to make it so that one has to live in fear of management or union jacking is not in our best interest as a people.  Please pass this on and get everyone to do so and to go and vote in the petition.

Unions were responsible for creating the middle class we now have today.  By ganging up on them blaming unions for the big three crisis is not wise, but destructive.  Protect the American worker and stop the attack on unions.  Attack the real reason we have this fiscal crisis, the lack of jobs, manufacturing jobs.  Protect the American worker by stopping this Employee Free Choice Act keeping the balloting private and then follow up on what the RNC comes up with next.

The question of private balloting for choosing to be in a union or not is the question of this Congressional Bill. It has nothing to do with whether unions are a good or evil. By making it so public, it opens up the door to boot jacking by unionists and we have seen how that resulted in the history of unionizing.

The reason for needing a union is to keep employers honest to the phrase, "A fair days wage for a fair days work." If we lived in a perfect world, we would not need unions, government , police. But we don't as humans are flailed, thus unions are a necessity. However, there are employers that do provide fairness in wages.

The trouble in America is how the employers are being oppressed and thus this oppresses employees. If the business is not making enough money to provide for greater employee pay, forcing the employees into being in a union by the public declaration is not going to work at all.
