IOF~ My reply to Judith Butler (International Organization for the Family)

Last month, we shared a hit-piece penned by famed feminist Judith Butler in The Guardian attacking pro-family activists and groups, including the International Organization for the Family.

R. George,

Last month, we shared with you the news of a hit piece penned by infamous feminist Judith Butler in The Guardian attacking pro-family activists and groups, including the International Organization for the Family.

Butler lashed out not only at groups like IOF and our partners, but entire nations—such as Hungary and Poland—and religious believers of various stripes (mentioning the Vatican and faithful Muslims).

I wrote to The Guardian asking that we be given space for a response to these scurrilous attacks, but (no big surprise) they refused to print my reply.

So, instead, I am sharing my response with you today. You can find it below. (If you are interested, you can read Butler's original piece here.)

IOF will never back down to this kind of bullying. Now will we be silent when lies and name-calling are used by our ideological opponents to try and paint our values as somehow radical or hateful. We firmly believe that the natural family—founded in marriage between a man and a woman—is the fundamental unit of society. We believe that life begins at conception and should be respected at all stages until natural death. We believe that biological sex is a grounded reality and not a matter of whim and preference. These may be extreme ideas for Judith Butler, but we will not allow people like her to push them to the margins of society, along with the good people who believe in them! You can always count on IOF to stand up and defend these beliefs in the public square. If you wish to reconfirm your commitment to being part of our movement, you can do so by clicking here to support us.

Thank you, and God bless,

No, Judith Butler, family
 advocates are not fascists

Judith Butler's Why is the idea of 'gender' provoking backlash the world over? perfectly illustrates the old propagandist's trick of accusing her enemies of the very thing of which she is guilty. Dr. Butler breathlessly claims that "anti-gender movements are not just reactionary but fascist trends." And she singles out the International Organization for the Family as one of the key groups behind this "fascist" ideology.

Never mind that reason and science underscore the fundamental reality of biology; never mind that we have witnessed increasing violence against those of us who affirm the truth about biological reality; never mind that opposition to the propaganda of gender ideology is rooted deeply in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights…. No, all that matters is that we have transgressed the limits of what Judith Butler views as acceptable discourse. We must be punished. And Butler will help mete out that punishment by declaring us fascists. It is as absurd as it is predictable.

What inspires fear and anger in proponents of gender ideology is that the same tools that they have used to undermine biological reality are now being used against them: the deconstructionists can not stand for their own ideas to be deconstructed.

Gender ideology at its core is an attempt to deconstruct what it is to be a human. By tearing biology away from our humanity, it seeks to alter human nature itself.

But when an honest observer looks at who are in positions of power, who are attempting to dominate those with less power, who are limiting debate to achieve their ends, it is clear that it is Judith Butler and her clique that are using power to control and silence. When you critically analyze the rhetoric of gender ideology you see how much it is used a tool of power. Gender ideologists seek to silence and punish. They seek to deny the humanity of the other, to cancel ideas and arguments they disagree with, to create two classes of human beings—the enlightened and the unenlightened.

For those of us who condemn violence and hatred and believe in true human freedom, it is gender ideology that is increasingly looking more and more reactionary…or should I say, as Dr. Butler does, fascist?
