U.S. Representative Woodall Introduces FairTax with Record Support
Jan 3, 2013 Issues: FairTax
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - U.S. Representative Rob Woodall (R-GA-07) introduced his signature legislation, H.R. 25, The FairTax, on Thursday, January 3, 2013—the first day of the 113th Congress—with a record number of original cosponsors in the House of Representatives. The previous record number of original cosponsors was set by Woodall in 2011, and today the bill was reintroduced in the 113th Congress with even more original cosponsors, 53.

“The momentum is building for fundamental tax reform and it’s fueled by the American people,” said Woodall. “We finished the 112th Congress with the highest number of combined cosponsors in the House and Senate that the FairTax has seen. While I wish I could take credit for these gains, I cannot. The credit goes to the tens of thousands of FairTax advocates across America who pursue, with tenacity and zeal, the FairTax’s advancement in their hometown and with their Congressman and Senators. I’m grateful for their hard work and their commitment to America. They are changing minds and making a difference in Congress.”

H.R. 25, the FairTax, repeals the Sixteenth Amendment and replaces our current income tax system with a single, national consumption tax. With the passage of the FairTax, American workers will receive their full paycheck before the federal government gets even a penny.

“The FairTax addresses so many of the challenges Americans face today. By passing the FairTax, Congress can shield middle-class Americans from the burden of the payroll tax, the largest tax burden that most American families bear. The FairTax would make it easier for businesses to grow and hire new workers by abolishing America’s corporate income tax, currently the highest in the world. By passing the FairTax, Congress can also protect Social Security and Medicare for current and future retirees by switching to a more reliable revenue stream and increasing the number of Americans who contribute. We can restore America as the primary destination of jobs and investment from around the world,” Woodall said.

“I am encouraged by the bipartisan, bicameral commitment to tackle fundamental tax reform this year on behalf of the American people. Fundamental tax reform that makes our laws fairer, simpler, and more transparent would unleash America’s economic potential and allow the American people to focus on saving, investing, and succeeding rather than struggling to comply with the interminable tax changes and challenges of the federal government. I join with the hundreds of thousands of patriots across the nation and a record number of House members in calling on Congress to consider the FairTax as part of our economic solution in 2013.”

Congress needs to engage in some real tax reform

This week we avoided that plunge over the fiscal cliff. Not only did Democrats and Republicans reach a consensus that taxes must increase, but in a final dramatic hour they even agreed on the specifics.

This week we avoided that plunge over the fiscal cliff. Not only did Democrats and Republicans reach a consensus that taxes must increase, but in a final dramatic hour they even agreed on the specifics.
But it’s not yet time to breathe easy, as the parachute we’re on is only half opened. The tax code changes that Congress agreed to are meager and a far cry from the true tax reform we need....

Congress has been bribed over 1,900 times in IRS Tax Code Amendments since Reagan gave us the last flat tax.  The best way to cure the deficit ceiling is to put everyone back to work.

Since Reagan gave us free trade policies, we have kept our tax structure with the closed border production tax.  Now we are competing with imports having n average 22% handicap of federal taxes embedded in the price of domestic product.  Even a loaf of bread has 22% higher cost in it's price.

We need to end the One State spending going on and go back to having 50 nations, fifty States deciding on their own spending for control of property and morals.  We need to hand off federal entitlements with the State being given a date certain when citizens will no longer qualify for Social Security and medicare/aid.  Transitioning with option based on age and every dollar repatriated from Social security.  Give the States the recommendation of mandating HSA/IRAs, privately owned and local investment an option.

By putting the change of entitlements in sync with the implementation of the consumption open border tax, FairTax, you will find a smooth transition as payroll taxes are one of the many that disappear with FairTax.  Here is list of fixes FairTax will do:

What we need to do, @repjustinamash. Do tax cut & FairTax~

‎...Obama said the deal now on the table would prevent a tax increase for the overwhelming majority of Americans, extend the child tax and tuition credits for families as well as those for clean-energy companies, and extend unemployment benefits for 2 million people. But even then, he said lawmakers still have to figure out how to mitigate the possible damage from sharp spending cuts that are scheduled to start biting January 2, when the federal government reopens after the New Year's holiday....

Sean Furr~   Aren't these the same Bush tax cuts that the Dems said put an undue burden on the Middle Class? So then, wouldn't it be good for the Middle Class for these tax cuts to expire? As to the "Fiscal Cliff" crap: Wouldn't deep cuts in government spending actually help the economy? Unless of course, you have only read Keynes.

R. George Dunn~   The burden came from expanding tax revenue by more people making a living. That is our goal, Jobs. But the small hike in taxes can be eliminated by payroll deductions to balance in say April, retroactive to January first.

500 billion from defense and 5000 billion from the rest. It is needed pronto. We must care for the body of the economy the same way we got here. We must do what Obama wants on the tax issue and change it next time. We need the farm bill extended and we need unemployment extension. We don't want full death tax.

take the trillion dollar cut and the $450,000 ceiling on wealth tax. Do remember, most rich people don't have wages. You tax capital gain and you stifle growth. Best get tax out of doing business in America so we can get back to work.

Not Obamacare, but HSA/IRAs, privately owned, local investment option, States' mandated, by choice.
